Rock inscriptions from the early Islamic period in Saudi Arabia provide important data regarding the dating, authenticity and preservation of the inscriptions, as well as the history of the Qur'an and early Islamic research. Sociologist, Researcher-Writer and Epigraphist Müfid Yüksel, in his evaluation to the AA correspondent, stated that a single criterion is not sufficient to determine which period the early Islamic rock inscriptions belong to, and that the writing style, spelling features, content of the text and archaeological context should be evaluated together.
