🇨🇦 CanadaAdvance Voting Continues Through Monday Ahead of the Federal By-election in the Chicoutimi – Le Fjord Riding

Advance polling stations are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The by-election was triggered by the resignation of Conservative MP Richard Martel, who accepted a Senate appointment. Martel had represented the riding in the House of Commons since 2018. The Conservative Party of Canada is fielding Régis Gaudreault, a retired lawyer and former law professor at Cégep de Chicoutimi, to hold the seat. Gaudreault faces Daniel Gobeil, former president of Les Producteurs de lait du Québec, running under the Liberal Party of Canada banner, and Bloc Québécois candidate Caroline Dubé, who has worked in community and political circles.
The New Democratic Party is running Raphaël Émond, while the Green Party has nominated Nathe Perrone. The People's Party is represented by François Sabourin. In the 2025 election, Martel won by a margin of only 1,499 votes over Bloc candidate Marc St-Hilaire.
Liberal Stéphane Proulx finished third, just 1,536 votes behind the winner. Three federal by-elections will be held on August 31. Le Fjord, voters will head to the polls in Beaches – East York, Ontario, and North Vancouver – Capilano, British Columbia. Advance voting continues until Monday for the by-election in the Chicoutimi – Le Fjord riding, with polling stations open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
