🇳🇴 NorwayOslo to Bergen Are Sold Out for the Entire Next Week Due to the Air Traffic Controller Strike, Norwegian Railway Company Vy Has Confirmed
The strike, which began after negotiations between the Norwegian Air Traffic Controllers' Association and the employers' organization Spekter broke down on Friday, has led to a surge in demand for long-distance rail travel. Twelve air traffic controllers have been taken out on strike, causing widespread flight cancellations. As a result, search activity for long-distance train departures on Vy's website has exploded, with the Bergen-Oslo route seeing nearly three times as much traffic as the same time last week, while the opposite direction has seen a doubling.
Vy's communications director, Siv Egger Westin, told NTB that the numbers show a marked increase in interest for long train journeys after several flights were canceled. Now, departures are sold out on the Oslo-Bergen route until next weekend. We would have liked to add more departures, but the problem is that there are no more trains available, Westin said.
