Istanbul's Beyoğlu District Struck a Parked Car, Sending It Crashing Into Another Vehicle and Leaving It Dangling in Türkiye

The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 12, at around 12:15 p.m. in the Kadı Mehmet Efendi neighborhood. According to information obtained, Mustafa Meral parked his car with license plate 34 TN 9389 at the top of the slope, washed it, and cleaned the interior before entering his apartment building. About half an hour later, a delivery van with license plate 34 BBS 256, driven by R.K., began moving after the driver left the vehicle to distribute packages.

Allegedly, the driverless van, whose brakes failed, slid down the slope and struck Meral's parked car. The impact sent the car careening into a parked box truck with license plate 34 DC 5966, leaving it hanging at the roadside. No one was killed or injured in the accident, but the vehicles sustained damage.

The dangling car was removed from its position with the help of a tow truck called to the scene. Police launched an investigation into the incident. In the previous incident, a vehicle coming uncontrolled from the upper part of the slope had also struck Meral's same car.

After that collision, the car, which was left even more precariously hanging, was taken by tow truck to a service shop and repaired. I washed the car, wiped it down, and went upstairs. I heard a noise from behind.

I came down and looked—it had hit in between. If I had been there, God knows what would have happened. There's nothing to do.
