Each installment of his "Padre no hay más que uno" franchise (2019) quickly became a must-see during the hottest weeks of the year. Before that, summer movie seasons languished without blockbusters until 1989, when "Batman" premiered and Hollywood took notice.
Now, Spanish comedies have multiplied during the summer months, alongside Hollywood's unapologetic releases. In 2023, the Barbenheimer phenomenon boosted revenues.
