Teknofest Mavi Vatan in Kocaeli Learned Basic Maritime Terms Through Hands-on Activities in Türkiye

The event, held at the Gölcük Shipyard Command, completed its third day of activities. TEKNOFEST Mavi Vatan, with TRT as a communication partner and the Ministry of National Defense and the Turkish Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation) as main organizers, showcased Turkey's naval power, independence, and national defense capabilities. The Mavi Vatan Workshop, operated by Bilim Erzurum, welcomed children aged 9-14. Participants, guided by instructors and staff, created logbooks, tied sailor knots, and learned maritime signals, flags, and terminology through practical exercises.

Our goal is to instill a love for the Mavi Vatan in children, Aras said. When children arrive, they mistake the flags on ships for national flags, but when they leave, they excitedly tell their families that these are actually signal flags and what they mean. They leave happy because they have gained new knowledge, he added.

The Science Street Workshops will continue their activities on the fourth day of the festival. The event in Kocaeli is part of TEKNOFEST Mavi Vatan, where children learned basic maritime terms through hands-on activities.
