Users May Be Able to Describe the Widget They Want on Their Home Screen and Have AI Generate a Custom Design for Them

Samsung is working on a new feature for its upcoming One UI 9.5 interface that will let users create their own custom widgets with the help of artificial intelligence. The feature, called "My Custom Widget, has surfaced in a leaked screenshot shared by tipster Fahad Ali Javed on X, showing the option listed alongside other widgets. While the exact workings of the feature remain unknown, it is expected to offer an experience similar to Google's Gemini-powered "Create My Widget feature.
Users may be able to describe the widget they want on their home screen and have AI generate a custom design for them. Initially, the feature is expected to be limited to Samsung's own apps, with support for third-party applications possibly arriving at a later stage. Samsung recently introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 as the first Galaxy devices with Gemini Intelligence, and the Galaxy S27 series, expected to launch early next year with One UI 9.5, may support My Custom Widget out of the box.
Google has announced that its Create My Widget feature will roll out to select Pixel and Galaxy devices this summer, though it remains unclear whether it will require a paid Gemini subscription. Whether Samsung's own solution will have a similar subscription requirement is also uncertain at this time. The feature was first revealed in a screenshot shared by Fahad Ali Javed, who said he found evidence of the custom widget option in One UI 9.5.
