🇹🇷 TürkiyeDespite Security Concerns, Cost Keeps Chinese-made Drones in Use by Israeli Military in Türkiye

Israeli officials have raised security concerns over the use of Chinese-made drones in the military, warning that the aircraft could expose troop positions and sensitive operational data. The warning comes as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have increasingly relied on the drones since the start of its offensive in Gaza about three years ago. According to Israeli security officials who spoke to the Walla news site, the military has tightened its information security rules in response to the concerns.
Similar to measures taken by the Shin Bet, Israel's internal security service, Chinese-made drones have been banned from entering military bases. However, the drones continue to be used extensively by Israeli soldiers on the front lines. The concerns are not limited to the drones' data collection capabilities.
One Israeli official noted that some drones can be integrated with other devices through various applications, raising concerns about technology espionage. This could pose a risk to the security of the systems used by the Israeli military and its sensitive operational information. Despite these security concerns, cost remains a significant factor in the continued use of Chinese-made drones, as they are cheaper than alternatives from other manufacturers.
