Palestinian Presidency Calls for Preserving Al-aqsa Mosque's Historical and Legal Status

The Palestinian Presidency has called for preserving the historical and legal status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, describing it as a place of worship belonging only to Muslims. The statement, carried by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, emphasized that the mosque is a key symbol of Jerusalem's Arab and Islamic identity. It stressed that the sanctity and status of the entire 144-dunam area of the Al-Aqsa Mosque must be protected.
The statement drew attention to raids, rituals, flag-raising, excavation work, and restrictions on worshippers by Israel and fanatical Jewish groups, saying these practices pose a serious threat to the status of holy sites. The statement was issued on the 57th anniversary of the burning of the Al-Aqsa Mosque on August 21, 1969. Colombia has thanked Turkey for sending humanitarian aid following the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck on August 10. In a post on the X social media platform, Colombia's Foreign Ministry shared photos of the humanitarian aid materials sent by Turkey via Turkish Airlines (THY).
