Turkish soldier's duty term in Somalia has been extended for another 2 years
- The Presidential Decree on the subject was accepted in the General Assembly of the Parliament.
- In the Presidential Memorandum, it was emphasized that Turkish soldiers serve within the United Nations and NATO.
- It was noted that Türkiye's assistance was requested to ensure the security of maritime jurisdiction areas, especially in Somalia.
The duty of Turkish soldiers in the Gulf of Aden and Somalia has been extended for another 2 years. The Presidential Decree on the subject was accepted in the General Assembly of the Parliament. The General Assembly of the Parliament convened to discuss the motion extending the duty of the Turkish Armed Forces in the Gulf of Aden, Somali territorial waters and the Arabian Sea for another 2 years.
Cumhurbaşkanlığı Tezkeresinde, Türk askerinin Birleşmiş Milletler ve NATO bünyesinde görev yaptığı vurgulandı. Özellikle Somali'de deniz yetki alanlarının güvenliğinin sağlanması için Türkiye'den yardım istendiğine dikkat çekildi. Bölgedeki Türkiye bağlantılı gemilerin güvenliğinin sağlanması, silahlı soyguncular ve deniz terörizmiyle etkin mücadele edilebilmesi için Türkiye'nin rolüne dikkat çekildi. Genel Kurul'da siyasi partilerin temsilcilerinin konuşmalarının ardından yapılan oylamada Cumhurbaşkanlığı Tezkeresi kabul edildi.
