Los Angeles police announced Wednesday the arrest of a 57-year-old man with a prior murder conviction in connection with the shooting deaths of three people in Hollywood last month.
Patrick Kevin Spurlock, a Compton native, was arrested Aug. 13 in the 6600 block of Franklin Avenue, less than a quarter-mile from the site of the July 24 slayings in the 1900 block of Wilcox Avenue, according to inmate and court records. He is being held at L.A. County's Inmate Reception Center, denied bail, and awaits his next court appearance Aug.
31. The L.A. County district attorney's office charged Spurlock with three counts of murder with special allegations of multiple murders, murder with a prior murder conviction, and personal and intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury. He also faces three counts of one or more serious or violent felony convictions. A call and email to his attorney were not immediately returned.
Spurlock is accused of killing Los Angeles residents Jeremiah Badeker, Jack Cartegena and Michael Bogacz. Police said the four had gathered in an apartment on Wilcox Avenue early July 24 when an argument broke out.
