🇺🇸 United StatesSheridan Currently Has Seven Shows Airing, With at Least Two More on the Way

Few television creators are as prolific as Taylor Sheridan. Perhaps the most misunderstood creative in Hollywood, Sheridan has built a massive TV empire, beginning with his hit Western drama Yellowstone in 2018. The series, which ran on Paramount until 2025, starred Kevin Costner as John Dutton, a father and sixth-generation homesteader, who controls the country’s largest contiguous ranch. The show has since spawned multiple prequels and spin-offs, including 1883, 1923 and Dutton Ranch.
Sheridan recently revealed that the latest spin-off, 6666, has been permanently shelved, despite Paramount having announced it was in development. Still, the king of Paramount remains booked and busy, with seven shows currently airing, and at least two more on the way. Here is a rundown of all of Sheridan’s shows — past, present and forthcoming — that he has either created or that are based on characters he created.
Sheridan first stepped out of the Yellowstone universe with Mayor of Kingstown. which follows the McKlusky family, who act as unofficial power brokers in their town of Kingston, Michigan, where incarceration is the only thriving industry — is expected to return to screens for its fifth and final season this fall. It stars Jeremy Renner, who returned as Mike McKlusky in 2024 following his near-fatal snowplow accident.
Following the overwhelming success of Mayor of Kingstown, Sheridan continued to expand his reach with the gritty mafia crime drama Tulsa King. The show centers on Dwight (Sylvester Stallone), a mob boss recently freed from prison and exiled to Oklahoma to set up shop. It marks the Rocky actor’s first-ever starring role in a scripted television series.
It has been renewed for a fourth season, with production wrapping in March. A premiere date has yet to be announced. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent.
Currently in its third season, Lioness is a thriller featuring Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman as CIA operatives balancing their personal and professional lives while leading the agency’s war on terror. New episodes premiere Sundays on Paramount+. Landman, featuring an ensemble cast of Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Sam Elliott, Michelle Randolph and Jon Hamm, takes a deep dive into the shady world of billionaire oil tycoons.
Thornton leads as crisis executive Tommy Norris, who attempts to bring his company to the top during a fueling boom. A release date for season three of Landman is currently unknown. While the latest Yellowstone sequel, Dutton Ranch, was not officially created by Sheridan, it is based on original characters he created.
The series, which premiered in May, welcomes back Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser as power couple Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. The show follows their relocation to South Texas after a devastating fire destroys their Montana ranch. Dutton Ranch broke Paramount+ streaming records, becoming the platform’s biggest original series launch yet.
The Luke Grimes-led series, Marshals, is similarly built on Yellowstone characters originally established by Sheridan. This time, the spin-off focuses on Kayce (Grimes), the youngest Dutton son, and his transition to joining an elite unit of U.S. Combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, Kayce and his colleagues must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence. The Madison was initially conceived as a Yellowstone spin-off, but it has since been labeled a standalone series.
[Costner] was only supposed to be in the first three seasons. That was in his contract. In my mind, that’s when his youngest son takes over [on the show], but the network was so scared of not having Kevin be a part of it.
