🇹🇷 TürkiyeTurkey's Toprak Mahsulleri Ofisi Will, for the First Time, Purchase Poppy Seeds From Producers in Addition to Poppy Capsules During the 2026

The purchase price for blue, white, and yellow poppy seeds has been set at 140 Turkish liras per kilogram. "Poppy seeds will be purchased at the announced price with the application of a scale, the statement said. "Producers will be able to sell poppy seeds up to a maximum of 10 percent more than the amount of poppy capsules they deliver to TMO in 2026, based on the seed color they declared in HÜBAS.
Seeds will not be purchased from producers who do not deliver poppy capsules to TMO. The statement stressed that old-crop poppy seeds will not be accepted. TMO set maximum loss rates for its purchase quality criteria: 9 percent for moisture, 10 percent for total foreign matter, 1 percent for inorganic matter (stones, soil, etc.), and 3 percent for mixed-color seeds.
Poppy seed purchases will be conducted online via the appointment system through e-Devlet Kapısı, or randevu.tmo.gov.tr, and in person at chief directorates, branch directorates, and fixed workplaces. Producers are asked to bring their products to TMO purchase points on their appointment date. The specified sack conditions must be met upon delivery, with a payment of 15 liras per sack.
Payments will be deposited into bank accounts within 21 days of delivery. Products purchased from producers will go on sale starting November 1 at 160 liras per kilogram. TMO said the move aims to ensure sustainability in poppy farming and protect producers.
