🇪🇸 SpainThe Spanish Government Is Working to Bring 500 Underage Migrants Who Arrived in the Spanish Enclave of Ceuta in July to the Spanish Mainland
The migrants are all children, and according to the Spanish newspaper El Pais, they are 500 girls. The announcement comes just hours after the European Commission declared that, under EU law, all migrants in Ceuta should be returned to Morocco. Around 70,000 migrants arrived in Ceuta from Morocco on July 30. Most were sent back to Morocco in the days that followed, but migrants still remain in the Spanish enclave in North Africa, including minors.
Under Spanish law, the Spanish state has an obligation to care for unaccompanied migrants under 18 who arrive in Spain. The Spanish government is now working to relocate the 500 minors to the mainland.
