🇳🇴 NorwayGotaas Johnsen Decided to Resign After It Became Clear That Several Club Members Wanted Her to Step Down As Chairman

Odd Einar Landsem has been elected as the new chairman of Norwegian football club Rosenborg, succeeding Cecilie Gotaas Johnsen, who stepped down at an extraordinary general meeting on Wednesday. Landsem, previously the club's deputy chairman, told the meeting: "Thank you for the trust. He will serve as chairman until the next ordinary annual meeting.
"Together we will lift Rosenborg to where they belong. I look forward to taking on the job, he said. Gotaas Johnsen decided to resign after it became clear that several club members wanted her to step down as chairman.
This prompted the entire board to offer their resignations and led to the extraordinary meeting being called. "I am no martyr, I am not a victim either, and I do not feel sorry for myself, she said. Despite the criticism being directed at her, she believed it was right to hold the extraordinary meeting.
"We do not want an organizational culture where we give in to threats. The election of a chairman should take place at an annual meeting. Everything has been done properly within NIF's rules.
We have done what we believe is best for Rosenborg, she said. Gotaas Johnsen has faced much criticism during her tenure as chairman. At the meeting, the board's proposal to discuss the culture of discussion and debate within the club was rejected after member Daniel Strand proposed dropping the item, a move supported by a majority of members.
"We must try to maintain the calm, positivity and enthusiasm around our football team. We do not need to dig up what has been, said Christer Nesset from the stage. "If we are to move forward, we must in good times be able to talk about what is difficult, and what is obviously behind. A little grime, he added.
