Among Sector Indices, Mining Posted the Biggest Gain at 4.45%, While Information Technology Recorded the Steepest Loss at 4.42%.

Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Wednesday's session up 2.34% at 14,458.98 points, gaining 331 points from the previous close, with total trading volume reaching 199.1 billion Turkish liras. The rally was driven by strengthening risk appetite in global markets. The banking index rose 2.50% and the holding index gained 1.38%.
Among sector indices, mining posted the biggest gain at 4.45%, while information technology recorded the steepest loss at 4.42%. Global markets were supported after the U.S. Treasury Department announced it would increase buybacks to support liquidity in long-term bonds, which pushed bond yields lower. Investors are now focused on the U.S. Federal Reserve's meeting minutes due later today and news flow regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
Analysts noted that next week's domestic data calendar includes Turkey's external debt statistics, international investment position, and weekly money and banking statistics. Abroad, markets will track China's 1- and 5-year loan prime rates, Germany's Producer Price Index, and the U.S. Philadelphia Fed manufacturing index. On the technical side, analysts identified 14,600 and 14,700 points as resistance levels for the BIST 100, with 14,300 and 14,200 points serving as support. In a separate report, the Turkish Statistical Institute said the unemployment rate fell to 7.9%.
