🇮🇸 IcelandAndri's Phone Recorded All Calls and Also Audio When Calls Were Made From the Phone, Even If the Calls Were Not Answered in Iceland
Recordings that could not be played at the start of the so-called Reykholt case trial were played when the main hearing resumed this morning at the District Court of South Iceland. It proved difficult to hear what is said on the recordings due to technical difficulties. Six Icelanders, five men and one woman, are charged with holding a man captive at his home in Reykholt in Bláskógabyggğ and subjecting him to severe violence to extort money from him in April 2024. As previously reported, the case contains an unprecedented amount of recordings.
The recordings are known to have covered a period of a week. Andri's phone recorded all calls and also audio when calls were made from the phone, even if the calls were not answered. However, it has not been revealed why Andri Már's device recorded in this manner.
It is expected that by the end of today, all defendants will have given their statements. The victim will therefore give his statement tomorrow, and it is expected to take the entire day. Feared he would kill the man.
"Stay still, don't fucking move or I'll kick you more, Andri Már is heard saying on the recording. In the call, Andri then spoke with Ingunn, his girlfriend, asking her to arrange a car. This was likely shortly after the victim was briefly released from the custody of the three men who initially attacked him.
There, Andri Már said he was about to pass out and said the two men he had with him had abandoned him. He repeatedly asked Ingunn to help him. "What's the situation, my Ingunn?
Andri asks, and Ingunn says she is considering contacting a certain man. "No, he's a snitch, Andri replies. "I'm passing out, Ingunn, says Andri Már.
"They bailed on me. They were going to let him go, and then I go to prison. "If I go into a blackout, I'll kill him, Andri says on the recording.
Andri was also heard speaking with another man, who will not be named, about the man's flight. According to the indictment, Andri, his brother, and his girlfriend Ingunn followed the victim to Keflavík Airport, where he flew to Paris and then to Malta. Andri said on the recording that he intended to buy another flight to be able to watch the victim leave the country.
In another recording, Andri Már appears to be speaking with his father-in-law. "The son-in-law has messed everything up, he says to the man. He tries to reassure him and tell him that Ingunn is now involved in the case.
Everything will work out. They then also discuss inquiries from the victim's employer. "What kind of surveillance is this?
Why is there so much surveillance on him? he asks after the victim's employer had apparently been checking up on him. Finally, he tells his father-in-law that nothing can be proven.
"Do you know why? Because he has left the country, Andri is heard saying. "Nothing that isn't recorded can be traced.
Seemed to intend further offenses. Another recording appears to be of communication between Andri Már and Ingunn. "Hi, my darling, I'm just saying it's disgustingly good.
I feel just disgustingly good. I've gotten a motorcycle I've dreamed of, Andri Már is heard saying. He then says he has spent quite a lot of money and intends to continue doing so.
He also goes over earrings he appears to have bought for Ingunn. "Do you know how many earrings are ordered like the ones you have? Andri said.
