Hussein and Bin Farhan Discussed Measures for Resolving Issues Peacefully, Preventing Tensions From Rising, and Ensuring Regional Stability

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, discussed regional developments and ways to de-escalate tensions during a phone call on Tuesday, according to a statement cited by the state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA). The two ministers stressed the need to de-escalate the situation and return to dialogue, the statement said. They reviewed developments in the region amid growing tensions and their significant implications for regional security and stability.
Hussein and bin Farhan discussed measures for resolving issues peacefully, preventing tensions from rising, and ensuring regional stability. Hussein said that continued collaboration between the two nations, as well as with other countries in the region, is critical to settling the ongoing conflict. The coordination between Baghdad and Riyadh follows US-Saudi attacks on Iran-linked militia locations in several Iraqi provinces on July 29. Baghdad's security cooperation with Riyadh has grown more vital as the government seeks to prevent Iran-backed militias from drawing Iraq into a larger regional conflict.
