Denizolgun Was Opened on Tuesday As Part of a Reopened Investigation Into His Suspicious Death, With the Exhumation Completed at Karacaahmet

Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced it had ordered the exhumation to re-examine the true cause of death following claims and complaints that both the death and the original autopsy were suspicious. The decision was made under the relevant provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (CMK). Security barriers were set up at Karacaahmet Cemetery for the procedure.

A prosecutor and crime scene investigators arrived at around 8:45 a.m., and the exhumation was completed after roughly three hours of work. Denizolgun's body was then sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute (Adli Tıp Kurumu). Denizolgun died on September 6, 2016. His family had previously filed a criminal complaint over his death.

The case resurfaced amid the ongoing process following the arrest of Alihan Kuriş, the leader of the Süleymancılar community, bringing renewed attention to the allegations surrounding the former minister's death. The investigation is registered under file number 2026/8086 at the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
