🇦🇫 AfghanistanAfghanistan Marks 107Th Anniversary of Independence From British Control

Afghanistan on Wednesday, August 19, marked the 107th anniversary of its independence, commemorating the end of British control over the country's foreign policy following the Third Anglo-Afghan War in 1919. The war began in May 1919 during the reign of King Amanullah Khan and ended with a ceasefire after several weeks of fighting.
Amanullah Khan, who came to power in February 1919, made independence in foreign affairs a central objective of his government. The Rawalpindi Agreement, signed in August 1919, formally ended the conflict and paved the way for Afghanistan to conduct its foreign relations independently. Following the war, Afghanistan expanded diplomatic relations with other countries and embarked on a series of political and social reforms.
His government also developed the country's first constitution, reinforcing the concept of an independent Afghan state. The 1919 conflict was the third major war between Afghanistan and Britain. The First Anglo-Afghan War took place from 1839 to 1842, while the Second Anglo-Afghan War lasted from 1878 to 1880.
