Arday, 41, Found Unresponsive in Battersea Home, Police Say Death Not Suspicious

Jason Arday, who in 2023 became Cambridge's youngest Black professor at age 37, has died at 41.
Arday was found "unresponsive" inside a home in Battersea on Friday afternoon, according to reports from The Times, Telegraph, BBC and Sky News. The Metropolitan Police said only that a 41-year-old man was pronounced dead there, without naming him, in accordance with its policy. "At this time his death is being treated as unexpected, but is not believed to be suspicious, the police statement said.
Arday resigned as professor of sociology of education after intense media pressure, including allegations of plagiarism in his academic work and questions surrounding his claims about athletic and fundraising accomplishments. His death came the same week as the release of his memoir, "Great and Unfortunate Things, which Simon & Schuster had decided to release despite doubts about his credibility. In a statement issued through his publisher, Arday's family said they were in shock to have lost this amazing father, partner, brother, uncle and son.
