🇹🇷 TürkiyeFormer Turkish President Gül Welcomes Process Law, Says He Kept Faith Good Things Will Happen in Türkiye

Former Turkish President Abdullah Gül welcomed the entry into force of the so-called process law, saying he has always kept his faith that good things will happen. Gül's statement came after the law, officially titled the "Proposal for the Law on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration, was published in the Official Gazette on Tuesday (Aug. 18) with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's signature, entering into force.
The 12-article law, prepared for the PKK to lay down its arms, was passed on Aug. 10 with 468 votes in favor, 88 against and six abstentions. "The law published in the Official Gazette today with the approval of the President has opened a new door in the resolution of the Kurdish issue, one of the important issues in the history of our Republic, Gül said in a written statement.
I congratulate the political leaders, foremost President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, who took this bold step, and the state officials who laid the groundwork for this consensus behind the scenes. I wish this law to be auspicious for Turkey. I have always kept my faith that good things will happen.
