17-Year-old Unlicensed Driver Who Fled a Police Checkpoint in Bartın, Turkey, Struck and Seriously Injured His 16-Year-old in Türkiye

The incident occurred on Zeybekler Street in the Karaköy neighborhood of Bartın province. The teenager, identified only as B.N., ignored police orders to stop during a routine traffic operation and drove his car, with license plate 74 AAV 677, into a dead-end street. There, the vehicle hit E.Z., 16, who was standing on the road in front of his home.

The impact shattered the car's windshield. The loud noise brought the driver and the victim's relatives out of the house, who then transported both the seriously injured E.Z. and the lightly injured B.N. to a private hospital in another vehicle. Traffic officers who found the abandoned car in the dead-end street requested backup after spotting bloodstains at the scene.

Numerous police and crime scene investigation units were dispatched to the area. Initial investigations revealed that the driver had no license and that the victim was his relative.
