Police in Turkey arrested 25 suspects in a coordinated operation against loan sharking across seven provinces, centered on the eastern city of Bitlis. The arrests followed the detention of 32 people in simultaneous raids. The operation was launched by the Bitlis Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch and Intelligence Branch, under the coordination of the Tatvan Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Authorities conducted searches in Bitlis as well as in the provinces of Muş, Van, Batman, Mersin, Antalya, and Muğla. During the raids on identified addresses, police detained 32 suspects. Searches of their homes and workplaces yielded 155 checks, 3 bonds, 11 promissory notes, and numerous informal contracts.
After processing at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse. Of these, 25 were arrested and sent to prison by the court. The court also imposed judicial control measures on 5 suspects, while 2 others were released. The investigation is ongoing.
