Turkey Denies Reports of Major Economic Program Overhaul in Türkiye

Turkey's Ministry of Treasury and Finance has denied reports that it is preparing a major overhaul of the country's economic program, dismissing the claims as disinformation. In a written statement, the ministry responded to a newspaper article titled "Preparation for calibration of tight monetary policy, which cited unnamed "real sector and banking sources close to the ministry. The ministry said the report was prepared without consulting the directly involved parties and falsely linked matters under the purview of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey — including monetary policy tools, exchange rate policy, and credit growth limits — to the ministry. The comments suggesting a radical change in the economic program are not true, the statement said, adding that such unverified reports could mislead the public and should not be trusted.
