🇹🇷 TürkiyeTürksat 3A Served a Critical Role for Turkey's Broadcasting Sector for 18 Years in Türkiye

Turkey's Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that all radio and television broadcasts from the Türksat 3A satellite have been successfully transferred to the fleet's new-generation, high-capacity satellites. The operation was carried out seamlessly overnight between August 15 and 16. Uraloğlu emphasized that the massive transfer, conducted as the 18-year-old Türksat 3A reached the end of its technological lifespan, was completed flawlessly without any interruption. Hundreds of frequencies across Turkey were relocated simultaneously in a process managed with high engineering precision, allowing media outlets to move their broadcasts onto a more advanced technological infrastructure.
The minister stated that an intensive coordination effort had been underway for a month to ensure a smooth transition for both broadcasters and citizens. Technical bridges established with television channels and radio stations resolved complex processes such as frequency changes without any visible impact on screens. Officials from the ministry confirmed that all necessary technical inspections were carried out after the transition to prevent any signal issues, and that the system is operating stably.
Türksat 3A served a critical role for Turkey's broadcasting sector for 18 years. Its replacement by modern satellites with much higher data processing capacity means a clearer and uninterrupted experience for viewers. Industry representatives and citizens have expressed satisfaction with the high broadcast quality Turkish broadcasting, which reaches a wide geography, will continue to leverage the advantages of digital transformation at the highest level. The move is considered a strategic step not just a satellite replacement, but also an update and efficiency boost to Turkey's digital assets in space.
