Animal Justice MP and Labor MP Welcome Baby Girl Despite Political Differences

Victorian MP Josh Burns, a Labor MP who is Jewish, and fellow MP Georgie Purcell, from the Animal Justice Party who is pro-Palestinian, have welcomed a baby girl. The couple, who also care for Burns' seven-year-old daughter from a previous marriage, divide their time between Purcell's farm in Kyneton and their home in Burns' electorate of Macnamara. Burns considers himself a "normal Australian" but says he has been forced to navigate a difficult time since the events of October 7 and the Bondi terror attack.

He feels "thrust" into the national spotlight following those events. The pair finds it "funny" when they are called political rivals and stress they have "shared values". But we do talk about things. We have robust political discussion, Burns told Annabel Crabb on ABC iview's Kitchen Cabinet.
