Russian Exile Media Name Man Accused of Financing Navalny Group; He Holds German Citizenship

A man accused by Russia of financing an extremist organization is reportedly a German citizen, according to Russian exile media that name him.
The man, whose name is circulating in Russian exile media, holds German citizenship, the outlets report. This aligns with information in a cycling database — the man runs a fitness studio in Russia and has competed in sporting events in the past. According to the Russian outlet Fontanka, he lived in Germany for several years.
The Russian Interior Ministry accuses the man of transferring 900 rubles — slightly more than nine euros at the current exchange rate — to an "extremist" organization. Fontanka reports that this refers to the Anti-Corruption Foundation of the late Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny. The foundation has been designated as "extremist" in Russia since 2021 and as "terrorist" since 2025. The Kremlin uses both labels to discredit regime opponents.
According to Fontanka, the man's apartment was searched, and his laptop and mobile device were seized. He has been in custody for two days, but authorities only announced this on Monday.
