The 89-year-old monarch has been receiving treatment for hemolytic anemia in recent weeks. The treatment, which involves cortisol, has led to fluid accumulation in the king's body that requires hospital care. The king is on sick leave for the next two weeks, during which Crown Prince Haakon will serve as Norway's regent. In February, the king was hospitalized on the Spanish holiday island of Tenerife.
