🇮🇳 IndiaIn July, the Company Sold 5,518 Electric Scooters Across India

Tamil Nadu is emerging as a key market for electric two-wheeler maker BGauss, driven by the state's strong automotive ecosystem, expanding EV adoption and growing penetration in Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns, according to founder Hemant Kabra. The six-year-old company has sold around one lakh scooters across India, with about 20 per cent of its sales — covering both B2B and B2C segments — coming from Tamil Nadu, Kabra told businessline. In July, the company sold 5,518 electric scooters across India.
BGauss currently has 29 active dealerships across Tamil Nadu, each supported by a workshop.
The company sells its vehicles — BG Oowah, BG RUV 350 and BG Max C12 — at prices over ₹1.22 lakh.
Kabra said Tamil Nadu is distinctive because it combines a large two-wheeler market with a strong automotive manufacturing and engineering ecosystem.
Chennai, Hosur, Krishnagiri and Coimbatore provide manufacturing capabilities, a deep supplier base and technical talent, helping improve confidence among customers, dealers and financing partners. While Chennai and Coimbatore remain important centres for EV adoption, the market is increasingly expanding into Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns. BGauss said the availability of dependable dealerships and service support is emerging as one of the strongest drivers of adoption beyond major cities.
Tamil Nadu buyers are increasingly looking at electric scooters as practical alternatives to petrol two-wheelers rather than simply as new technology, Kabra said. Range in real-world conditions, service accessibility, battery warranty, financing and overall ownership costs are among key purchase considerations. In Chennai and Coimbatore, EVs are being purchased both as replacements for petrol scooters and as additional household vehicles.
Daily commuting economics and applications such as food and grocery delivery are among key demand drivers. In semi-urban and smaller markets, however, the presence of a trusted local dealer, accessible service and financing support plays a bigger role in the purchase decision. The company said network expansion and EV adoption tend to move together in these markets.
