Saffet Dogruyol, 46, who farms in Konari village in the Safranbolu district of Karabuk province, grows certified organic products including tomatoes, peppers, beans, melons and watermelons without using any chemicals or pesticides. He told Anadolu Agency that his garden uses various types of heritage seeds and that no chemicals are used at all. "Everything grows completely organically.
Our product range is wide. We grow melons, watermelons, tomatoes, bean varieties, pepper varieties and many types of tomatoes. The biggest feature of these is that besides being organic, they are all heritage seeds, Dogruyol said.
Customers can visit the garden and pick the products themselves, or Dogruyol prepares them for those who prefer. "The way to healthy eating is through healthy food. Our guests who come to the garden get fresh products.
We go to the public market on Thursdays. We sell online and from the garden, he said, adding that he strongly recommends young people take up farming. Aynur Gokdogan, 62, who bought vegetables from Dogruyol's garden, said she recently discovered the place and is very satisfied.
We recommend it to everyone. We bought peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, corn and bell peppers here. We are pleased with all of them.
It's very nice and wonderful. The advantage over the market is that it's close to us and organic produce picked by one hand, she said. Another customer, Hatice Erdogan, noted that products are freshly picked from the branch and given to them.
