Face-down Burial Found in 1St-century Grave in Croatia

The discovery was made during excavations at the ancient Roman city of Salona, now a suburb of modern Solin. The skeleton, found in a prone position, is an unusual burial posture for the period. Researchers suggest the positioning may indicate the individual was of low social status, or that the burial was intended to prevent the deceased from rising. Further analysis, including radiocarbon dating and isotopic studies, is planned to determine the man's age, health, and possible cause of death.
