🇪🇸 SpainRomania Says NATO Spanish F-18s Shot Down Unauthorized Drone Near Galati in Spain

Romania said an unauthorized drone that entered its airspace was shot down by NATO's Spanish F-18 fighter jets. Defense Minister Radu-Dinel Miruta said in a social media post that the drone was detected near Galati in the country's southeast, and two F-18 jets were scrambled as part of NATO's air policing mission. The Spanish F-18s intercepted the drone, which crashed into an uninhabited forested area.
Miruta said an investigation has been launched to determine the drone's country of origin, and thanked the Spanish pilots and the Romanian military for their successful mission. In July, three drones that entered Romanian airspace on three consecutive days were also shot down.
