The victims, both women, were in a wine cellar that suddenly flooded due to heavy rain, according to the newspaper El País, citing local officials. Two children suffered minor injuries in the mudslide. It is unclear whether the women were related to the injured minors, as the identities of those involved have not been released.
No one is reported missing. The flooding occurred in the hamlet of Manzanedo de Valdueza, home to around twenty residents. Mud and water rushed into the village while six people were inside the wine cellar at the time. Emergency services deployed several ambulances and a helicopter to the scene.
