Coalition Dispute Over Sick Pay Waiting Period Ends in Compromise
A coalition dispute over reintroducing the so-called waiting period — the first three unpaid days of sick leave — has ended in a compromise.
The compromise, reached after weeks of negotiations, will see the waiting period reintroduced for new employees only, while existing workers will retain their current sick pay rights. The agreement also includes a provision for a hardship fund to support low-income workers who may be affected by the change.
