🇻🇪 Venezuela131 Prisoners Under a Program Aimed at Fostering Peace and Democratic Coexistence, According to Communications Minister Miguel Angel Perez

The releases come amid ongoing dialogue between the ruling Chavista movement and the opposition. Perez announced the release on social media, stating that the prisoners were freed under the "Peace and Democratic Coexistence Program" implemented by interim President Delcy Rodriguez. He said the government would continue to firmly support the program's efforts to "promote reconciliation among Venezuelans, strengthen the country's social fabric, and make peace permanent.
The freed inmates were granted conditional release. According to their release documents, they must appear in court every 30 days to sign in. Dinorah Figuera, a former lawmaker and leader of the opposition faction in dialogue with the ruling party, told the press she would work toward securing the release of more political prisoners. "Let us continue to demand and fight tirelessly until every one of our citizens is reunited with their family, she said.
