Family Members Inside the Home Alerted Authorities, Prompting Firefighters and Gendarmerie Teams to Be Dispatched to the Scene in Türkiye

A man in Mersin, Turkey, set his family's home on fire after an argument and fled, authorities said. The suspect was quickly apprehended and taken into custody. The incident occurred in the Bahşiş neighborhood of the Akdeniz district, on Nihat Oğuz Bor Street.

The suspect, identified only as A.S., argued with his family for reasons still unknown before setting the house ablaze with a lighter and escaping. Family members inside the home alerted authorities, prompting firefighters and gendarmerie teams to be dispatched to the scene. Fire crews managed to extinguish the blaze.

The fleeing suspect was captured by gendarmerie forces shortly afterward and placed under arrest. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
