Officials Reported That 157 Homes Were Severely Damaged and Around 200 Suffered Lighter Damage

At least 47 people have died after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck off the island of Flores in eastern Indonesia, according to authorities. The death toll has been revised upward as rescue teams continue searching for survivors in the rubble of collapsed buildings. The quake hit early Saturday morning local time, which was just before midnight Friday Danish time.
Officials reported that 157 homes were severely damaged and around 200 suffered lighter damage. There were also reports of damage to schools, hospitals, and public buildings.
