According to OKF, the passenger train traveling from Balassagyarmat to Aszód struck the car from the side. Five people were in the vehicle. No injuries were reported among those on board the train.

Firefighters, working alongside ambulance crews, freed one passenger who had been trapped inside the wrecked car. The accident occurred at a well-functioning, signal-protected crossing on Kossuth Road, according to railway operator Mávinform. The railcar derailed on one axle as a result of the collision.
