🇺🇸 United StatesIranian Official Rejects Trump's Claim on Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has rejected U.S. President Donald Trump's assertion that he would declare the Strait of Hormuz American territory, saying the waterway cannot be seized by tweet, aircraft carrier, order, or campaign speech.
In a message posted on social media, Gharibabadi said: "The Strait of Hormuz cannot be seized by tweet, aircraft carrier, order, or campaign speech... Iran fears neither threats nor can it be intimidated by shows of force. Addressing Trump directly, Gharibabadi said the U.S. must acknowledge it has suffered "strategic and heavy defeats" against Iran. "The Strait of Hormuz was Iran's, is Iran's, and will remain Iran's, he wrote.
"This strait will only close and open on Iran's orders, and as long as you do not accept real defeat and abandon your illusions, Iran will continue to impose a blockade (on the Strait of Hormuz). Trump claimed in a statement on Tuesday that the U.S. Navy had imposed a full blockade on the strait and said: "After completely defeating Iran, I will soon declare the Strait of Hormuz American territory. The previous day, Trump had posted on social media that the U.S. had "full control" over the strait.
