🇺🇸 United StatesWalmart Recalls 3,240 Tomato Soup Kits Over Listeria Risk in 29 States
Walmart is recalling 3,240 tomato soup kits sold at its stores in 29 states over concerns they may be contaminated with Listeria, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said in a notice issued Wednesday.
The 14-ounce Marketside-brand soup kits were distributed exclusively to Walmart locations between June 30 and July 7, according to the FDA. The recall was issued by Kettle Cuisine, the Maryland-based manufacturer, after the product tested positive for Listeria, a bacteria that can cause illness. The FDA said Kettle Cuisine has received no confirmed reports of illnesses linked to the product.
Symptoms of Listeria infection include severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Consumers who purchased the soup kit are advised to wash their hands after handling it and clean any surfaces it may have touched. The FDA also urged customers to dispose of the product or return it to the Walmart where they bought it for a refund.
Do not rely on smell or appearance to determine whether the product is safe, the agency said in its recall notice. Product details: Brand: Marketside.
