🇹🇷 TürkiyeEdirne, Turkey, After Allegedly Harassing Women, With the Incident Captured on a Cellphone and Both Sides Filing Complaints in Türkiye

CHP Edirne deputy Ahmet Baran Yazgan was attacked during an argument that erupted at a house in Edirne late on the night of August 13, 2026. According to the claim, Yazgan began arguing with three people, two of whom were women, and the dispute escalated after he allegedly harassed the women present. One of the men and women in the house began cursing at Yazgan and hitting him. The CHP lawmaker was beaten with punches and kicks for a long time and tried to protect himself with his hands.
Another person in the house recorded the incident on a cellphone. After the incident, both sides filed complaints. Yazgan reported the assault, while the other party filed a criminal complaint against him over the harassment allegations.
The three suspects who beat Yazgan appeared before a judge at the Edirne Courthouse on August 14. The court released them under judicial control and imposed a travel ban abroad. The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced it had launched an ex officio investigation into Yazgan over charges of sexual harassment under Article 105/1 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) and sexual assault remaining at the level of molestation under Article 102/1-2.
