Pop star Selena Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, and co-founder Daniella Pierson have been sued by investors in their mental wellness company Wondermind, who allege securities fraud. The lawsuit was filed Thursday in federal court in Delaware, according to Forbes. The investors, who collectively put nearly $1.2 million into the company, claim they were misled into believing Wondermind had the necessary infrastructure to operate, per.
Wondermind launched in 2022 and was intended to help users improve their "mental fitness" through a website and app. "The partnerships did not exist. The initiatives were never realized.
The app was never built, the plaintiffs wrote in the lawsuit, as reported by Forbes. The investors allege Gomez was supposed to be closely involved as chief marketing officer but failed to fulfill her obligations. According to a Forbes article from May 2025, the company ran out of money and struggled to pay employees.
Shortly after, nearly two-thirds of the staff were laid off. In September of that year, The Cut reported that Teefey had behaved "erratically" at work and at times appeared intoxicated; she has denied the claims. Neither Gomez nor her representative has commented on the case so far. Gomez is an American artist, actress, and businesswoman known for her Disney role in "Wizards of Waverly Place, her pop career, and her cosmetics brand Rare Beauty.
