Rome Prosecutors to Oppose House Arrest for Lavitola in Italy

Valter Lavitola had commissioned the material authors of the attack on Sigfrido Ranucci to carry out an action with "different methods". Not a bomb, therefore, but "four or five pistol shots towards the wall" of the Report host's villa in Pomezia, a town near Rome. This is what he reportedly told the preliminary investigations judge during the interrogation lasting over 5 hours on August 12. After the dynamite attack last October - according to what has been learned - the suspect would nevertheless have had no objections, considering the explosion of a rudimentary device to be of "demonstrative value" anyway.

The Rome prosecutor's office will give a negative opinion on the request for house arrest submitted yesterday by Lavitola's defense. He is also accused of the aggravating circumstance of mafia method and has been in Rebibbia prison since last Monday. A decision from the preliminary investigations judge is therefore awaited on the request to ease the measure.
