The head of IDAC was questioned about Belochan's role in the Komalo case, with lawyer Andrea Johnson clarifying the investigator's involvement in the intelligence matter concerning crime intelligence officer Dumisani Komalo. Witness N, who appeared before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, alleged that Belochan had been involved in extorting money from shop owners in the Eastern Cape since the early 2000s. During her testimony before the commission in Pretoria, Johnson confirmed that Belochan and Ayanda Mbalu executed Komalo's arrest warrant at O.R. Tambo International Airport. Responding to Commissioner Sandile Komalo's questions about the investigators' titles and roles, Johnson said they carry out arrest warrants.
