A Portuguese tourist who went missing in Croatia's Velebit Channel was found dead on Thursday morning, while the search continues for another missing man, the Croatian daily Jutarnji List reported on its website. Mirko Rasic, an official at the national center coordinating maritime search and rescue operations, cited the warm sea water and the young age of the missing men as reasons for hope. three men and one woman — set out early Wednesday from a campsite north of Senj in a small inflatable boat, but strong bora winds swept them into the Velebit Channel. Wind gusts in the area reached 110 kilometers per hour, and waves locally exceeded two meters.

Two of the four young people were found alive on Wednesday near the island of Krk. First, a 33-year-old woman was found after about ten hours adrift at sea. Later, a man was also found on Krk island, about three kilometers south of Vrbnik.

He managed to get out of the water on his own and climb onto the rocks. The other two men were searched for unsuccessfully until Wednesday evening by boats and from the air.
