A-level Results Day 2026: Clearing Options for Students Who Miss Grades in United Kingdom

For those who do not meet the conditions of their university offer, or who received no offers at all, clearing remains a vital option. Clearing is the process by which students can still find a place on a university course at short notice. Over 30,000 courses are available through clearing across the UK, spanning many subjects and offered by both Russell Group and non-Russell Group universities.

In the previous year alone, around 77,000 students secured a space through this route. Students who have changed their minds about what or where they wish to study can also use clearing to explore alternative options.
