A magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck central Elazığ, Turkey, on Wednesday evening, according to the country's disaster management agency. The quake hit at 8:40 p.m. local time (TSİ) on August 12, with its epicenter in the Merkez district of Elazığ province, the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) reported. The tremor occurred at a depth of approximately 8.8 kilometers (5.5 miles), AFAD said in a statement on its website.

No immediate reports of damage or casualties were available following the moderate shaking, which was felt in the eastern Turkish province. The agency recorded the earthquake's coordinates at 38.587 degrees north latitude and 39.57 degrees east longitude.
