AK Party spokesman Ömer Çelik said the framework law, officially titled the Law Proposal on the Dissolution of the Terrorist Organization and the Laying Down of Arms, was passed with 467 votes in parliament, and he rejected claims that the parliament has weakened.
Çelik stated that this high level of parliamentary support invalidates claims that the parliament has weakened and symbolizes the determination to end terrorism. He emphasized the will demonstrated by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, announcing that they are moving forward with a clear roadmap toward the goal of a "Terror-Free Turkey and Terror-Free Region. He noted that the adopted regulation provides the necessary legal guarantee for the dissolution of the terrorist organization and its laying down of arms.
Çelik said the passage of the framework law with 467 votes carries an important message for Turkey's political history. He announced that President Erdoğan will deliver a historic speech on August 14, inviting everyone to Ankara's Millet Bahçesi (Nation's Garden) for the party's anniversary celebration. "We invite everyone to listen to our President's speech at our party's founding anniversary at Ankara Millet Bahçesi on August 14. That day, we will celebrate our 25 years with a magnificent visual feast. Our President's speech will be beyond a 25th-anniversary address; it will be one of the historic speeches in the history of the republic.
