The response comes after Aftenposten commentator Joacim Lund wrote on August 7 about Bordeaux under the headline Thanks for now, Bordeaux, which the author says gives the impression of a region in decline. The author disagrees, noting that while Bordeaux has lost market share to Burgundy and younger wine enthusiasts increasingly seek out small producers and new expressions, the region has not lost its standing among the world's leading wine areas. The author also dismisses comparisons between Bordeaux and emerging regions like Hawke's Bay in New Zealand, as well as parallels drawn between Prosecco and Champagne or Argentine chardonnay and top white Burgundies.

These are exciting areas, but they are not alternatives to Bordeaux. Pointing to the primeur tastings of the 2025 vintage held in April, the author says Bordeaux continues to deliver wine at a very high level.
